Our Nature Study Walk

On 3rd October 2006 we had our Nature Study Walk with Mr Glanville, a Dartmoor National Park Ranger. He talked to us about looking after our countryside and how we can help keep to the countryside rules.
On our walk we looked at evidence of wildlife and the different types of berries, seeds, leaves and trees. We then had to try and identify the trees around the field. We used our sketchbooks to draw sketches and to collect examples of all the different colours that we could see in nature.
Emma took a photograph of an oak tree. When we return to the same field at the end of term she will take another photograph. We will be able to compare the differences as well as look at the skyline.
We collected this cricket in an insect pooter. It was very hard to catch. This is the underside of the insect. We also saw snails, spiders and flies. We also saw slug trails, horse and rabbit droppings, cobwebs and the remains of nut cases.
