9 Oct 2007 - A Successful Harvest Festival

Our Harvest Festival was held at St. Mary's Church in the village. Lots of parents and grandparents attended.
At the beginning of the Service, we took our Harvest produce to the front of the Church. You can see the Harvest loaf that was kindly made by an ex-parent, Mrs Vallance.
During the Service, we sang a selection of Harvest songs. Class 1 told us all about Johnny Appleseed and showed us their beautiful paintings. Class 2 made us think about where our food comes from and how we should try and help reduce carbon emissions and Class 3 performed a play about the first Harvest Thanksgiving Service in Cornwall where a group of villagers were taught that it was better to give than to take.
Archdeacon Tony thanked us all and then blessed the Harvest loaf.
After the Service, the congregation were invited to purchase the produce. £72 was raised and this money will go towards sponsoring a scheme through Oxfam that will allow a community in a developing country to have their own Harvest.
A big thank you to everyone who supported us.
