I lived in the children's home during the 60s and 70s and attended this school. The fierce Miss Longman ruled then! A goat was tethered below the school and the bravest of us had to retrieve the ball. Looking back we were quite isolated really, especially when it snowed that was great as the toilets being outside froze.

I see my cousin Peter Fitzsimmons has commented on this page. Hello Peter!

I never went to Mary Tavy School but my mum (as well as Peter's mum did). In fact their house is Dowerland Farm which is next door to the school. The farm is no longer in the family sadly but Mary Tavy will always be a very important place for me.

I live in Sydney, Australia and rarely return to the UK, but when I do I always go back to Mary Tavy to visit family buried at St.Mary's.

With love from the other side of the world.

Hello Mary Tavy Primary School,

I still remember my very first day at Marytavy School in September 1975! Great school, great teachers, great village.
I now work as a Design Engineer for CATERPILLAR in Northern Ireland..........just shows what a good job the school did to assist me in my life long learning. Keep up the good work everyone. Kindest regards Peter
